VOLCANO GARDEN ARTS
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Volcano Garden Arts is a World Heritage Site located a mile from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, and was once part of the 1908 Hopper Estate. The farmhouse-turned-gallery is constructed of California redwood originally brought to Volcano by ship, rail and horse-drawn wagon. The manicured grounds include cultivated gardens, an art studio, greenhouses, and nature trails that give access visitors access to the large surrounding upland rain forest.
Our art selection ranges from fresh, fun collectibles to works of significant impact, from pocket-sized to larger-than-life. The present owner - he refers to himself "caretaker" - is internationally known artist Ira Ono who envisioned a space where artists, gardeners, and writers from all over the world can explore, create, and be inspired by the powerful and healing beauty of Volcano village. With over 30 years of teaching, making art and gardening in the Hawaiian Islands, Ira Ono brings his vision to life at Volcano Garden Arts. The gallery is free and open to the public everyday between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Our romantic Volcano Artist Cottage is available for booking a relaxed getaway in a peaceful forest setting. As a special thank you, all guests of the Volcano Artist Cottage will receive 10% off all gallery and cafe purchases during their stay.
Attached to the Volcano Garden Arts gallery is the award-winning Cafe Ono, serving vegan and organic eating options, as well as local treats and goodies. Stop by for a quick snack, or stay for lunch. Reservations are not necessary. Cafe Ono is open for lunches Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
