Ohe kapala (bamboo stamp), Hawaiian block printing, was practiced by highly skilled women in ancient Hawai’i. Geometric designs of angular shapes and lines were carved out of bamboo strips, dipped in natural dyes, and stamped onto kapa in repeating patterns.
Geared to beginners and experienced artists, you will complete the day with an assortment of carved blocks, a series of prints, your own original block printed fabric or clothing, and a solid foundation in the concept and practice of block printing.
$80 (Fee includes use of all block printing supplies and papers. Bring your own fabric, t-shirts, pants, pa`u, etc, to print on.)
