Day of the Dead at Volcano Garden Arts featuring Folk Art of Peru

October 31 - November 7

We are pleased to announce an exhibit and sale of fine Peruvian textiles, folk art, handmade jewelry and a special collection of Day of the Dead handicrafts.

Colorful folk art by Luis Huamani depict Day of the Dead dances and scenes of everyday life in the Peruvian highlands. A special selection of handcrafted textiles from weaving villages on the islands in Lake Titicaca will be shown.

Hand–woven and organically–dyed Ayacucho rugs by master weaver Alejandro Gallardo will be featured, along with the work of Alfonso Sulca, one of a famous family of weavers.

The exhibition is presented by Tom Sheeran of Costasur Imports in Honolulu. Costasur specializes in fine folkart and top–quality handicrafts from Peru. Sheeran has created "Chaquiras," his own line of beaded jewelry inspired by the ancient civilizations of the Americas.

Prior to the opening, Day of the Dead t–shirts will be available for purchase at Volcano Garden Arts. Wear one to the opening or come dressed to spook!

The opening reception is Halloween night — Friday, October 31, 6:00pm-8:00pm. The show will run from October 31 through November 7.
